How to use EYE Test Exam Charts

How do you use an eye test / exam chart?

Eye test charts are utilized by doctors to measure a patient's vision during a visual acuity exam / test. The patient will be asked to cover one eye and read out loud the letters or symbols displayed on the chart. The test is administered to verify and problems or changes with vision.

Visual acuity is displayed as a fraction (Top number / Bottom number). The TOP number is the distance that the letter / symbol must be viewed and the BOTTOM number is the distance a person with a normal eye site should read the same line correctly.
